- Identified posts for the disabled
The Central government has identified 1,100 posts being held by Pwds in Government of
India establishments and public sector undertakings (PSUs) in Group A, B, C and D posts.
- Reservation and Promotion
3% reservation for Pwds, with disability not less than 40%, of which one percent each shall
be reserved for persons with visual impairment or low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor
disability or cerebral policy, in the posts identified for each disability.
3% of vacancies reserved in case of promotion to Group C and Group D posts.
- Special Provisions
1. People with visual impairment can get a writer for written tests during recruitment and promotion.
2. The candidates who use writers are given 20 to 30 minutes extra time.
3. Elimination of purely mathematical questions for the candidates with low vision.
4. Alternative questions of equal value to pictorial and graphic questions.
5. Interpreters for people with hearing impairment.
6. Age relaxation up to 10 years
7. The transport allowance fixed at double the normal rate.
8. Posting of candidates with disabilities in Group A, B, C and D near their native places.
9. Pwds are exempted from payment of examination fees for appearing in competitive exams like SSC, UPSC etc.
