In case of modified vehicles RTO issues license only if a certificate from CMO (Chief Medical Officer) is issued, specifying the disability of the person concerned, and that, he/she will be able to drive. It entitles the holder to drive “invalid carriage” type of vehicles. Invalid carriage means any vehicle, which has been modified i.e. it has been altered for the purpose of driving. The same license entitles the holder to drive two-wheeler as well as four wheeler vehicles. The user is given a driving license denoting the vehicle number on the license meaning that the user can not drive any other similar vehicle in case the vehicle goes out of order. This necessitates seeking a new driving license each time with a new vehicle.
